1. Think and act OUTSIDE THE BOX: Activities in the career transition process require you to act in ways that you are not yet comfortable with. This will require practice to gain new skills and confidence in using them. Expect to be outside of your comfort zone in order to optimize your transition efforts.
  2. Communicate in a positive, future-oriented manner: You will have a tendency to defend your weaknesses before leading to your strengths. Your communication strategies should be aimed at what you CAN DO rather than what you have (or have not) done.
  3. Always have a next contact to make. (I said Always!): Make a new habit of developing your personal contact network for the rest of your career and beyond--not simply during a job search. It is this perpetual networking mindset that will accelerate your productivity and keep you in step with your marketplace.
